What to prepare
- Bring valid, unexpired government-issued photo identification for every signer.
- Leave the document unsigned — signatures must be made in the notary's presence for jurats, and identity is verified at the appointment.
- Confirm whether the document requires witnesses; witnesses cannot be parties named in the document.
- Ensure the document is complete, with no blank spaces remaining.
- The notary verifies identity and completes the certificate; a notary cannot draft documents or provide legal advice.
